In this section I will explain how this site works.
Most important is that the information on this site can be reached easily and the site is easy to use. The "site engine" is Joomla! 1.5, a CMS (Content Management System), so all pages are created dynamically. The menu on the left is pretty obvious: from here you can visit all items on this website. On the right additional menu's appear and disappear when necessary. These menu's get you quickly to the most recent updated items (TN Latest Updates) or the latest guest comments (TN Visitor Comments) when you're at the frontpage. Also on the frontpage and all other pages a quick link menu is visible to the most popular items on this website (TN Reader's Pick) and the most popular items for each "Travelling to" item (Reader's Pick).
At the top right corner you'll notice a "seach box". Use this box to find any kind of information directly. Next to this search box there is a language selection box: here you can select between the Dutch and English language. Directly beneath the "travellernotes.info" text you can use the "breadcrumbs" to see where you are. At the bottom, next to the Copyright notice you'll see a direct link to our Contact page and Sitemap (another possible way to find information on this website).
Visitors are able to leave comments to almost every "article" (tour descirption, travel report, video's etc). At the end of the article you'll see a Comments box. There is no registration required, only a valid e-mail address and you have to enter the Captcha! verification code before posting your comment. Ofcourse you can write the comment in you own language ;)
If you don't want to post comments, but contact us directly use the contact form via the Contact link at the bottom of the site or via TN Main Menu > Information > Contact Us.
Last but not least you can also leave a message in our guestbook via TN Main Menu > Information > Guestbook.
Some of the content can also be downloaded. Tour Descriptions, some travel reports and other downloadable documents are available in PDF (.pdf) format. If you don't have a PDF reader, you can use Foxit Reader (free). Videoclips are available in the Windows Media Video format (.wmv) which can be viewed directly at the site (embedded video). Routes marked on (Google) maps are (when available) downloadable as a KML (.kml) file and can be opened in for example Google Earth. Wallpapers are available in various (pixel) sizes, but are always in JPEG (.jpg) format.
Well, everything should be clear now :) If not, don't hesitate to contact us!
