I've added Google Maps for use with the Tour Descriptions. Google Maps is a very helpful tool to indicate the geographical location of the various tours described. Just have a look at the Tour Descriptions section and you'll find out more.

Maybe unbelievable, but true: Austria Hiking Tours celebrates its 5 Year Anniversary! A lot has happened since the start in 2002 when it was only a one-page site. I've uploaded this version again for those of you who are curious. Click here to view Austria Hiking Tours v1.0! To celebrate this event, you can find a little present at the Media section :) Enjoy!

Oh yes, before I forget ... there are also 2 new tour descriptions available: both from our 2005 holiday in Ost-Tirol. The new tour descriptions are "Lienzer Spaziergang" and "Schleinitz (2905m)". So be sure to check the Ost-Tirol part of the "Tour Descriptions" section. The total number of tour descriptions available is 30!

I finally managed to get this site working correctly in Mozilla Firefox and Opera. Previously the menu items (the white ones in the sub sections) were overlapping each other and it was not possible to read or use it easily. Somehow Firefox and Opera got confused with some positioning element in the Cascade Style Sheet. Also a scrollbar was visible at the picturebanner at the top when viewing the site in Firefox or Opera (Alpenfreaks Forum member Frans, thank you for your support on this one!).

Anyway, you can view this site correctly using: Internet Explorer 6.0 & 7.0, Opera 9.02 and Mozilla Firefox 2.0.

Finally a website design that I really enjoy! Not that I disliked the previous one, but the menu technical structure (not the design) was a true mess. Anyway, the last couple of months I learned a lot about HTML coding in combination with CSS and creating a layout in Photoshop and the result is the site you see now!

New items on this website ? Well, I have reviewed all sections and added new items, mainly in the Travel Information and Media section. It's easiest to just click your way to the items of your interest and see for yourself ;) Enjoy your stay!

From today you can read the english translation of our 2005 Travel to Kartitsch! Click HERE to open the PDF document. Enjoy! (any comments are always welcome ;) Note: Grammar and spelling (of site) still need to be checked, so if you see incorrect English, I apologize for that!

15 March 2006
I've uploaded 3 new wallpapers!

13 March 2006
Pretty big update in the "Travel Report" section! You can now read about our 1990 - 1994 holidays in Vorarlberg (and view a lot of new photomaterial!). The 2005 Travel Report section is extended with videoclips. The English translation of the actual 2005 Travel Report is still in development (and will be available a.s.a.p.). Oh yes, some new wallpapers are also availabale. So enjoy your stay :) If you like you can drop me a message!

By adding the items 'Vorarlberg Info', 'Salzburgerland Info' and 'Troubleshooting', the v5 to v6 transformation is now complete! Now it's time to add some new stuff ;) :D Grammar and spelling still need to be checked, so if you see uncorrect English, I apologize for that!

Again I've done some 'code cleaning' and apart from 2 HTML documents, everything is now HTML 4.01 Valid (checked using W3C's Validator).

Presented to you: a brand new website design! I hope you like it :) I wanted to create 'something new' for this website; I wanted it to have a more simple structure (as in: less is more), it's easier for me to update and easier for visitors to find information (I hope). Not everything is fully functional yet, but I'll work on that to complete the whole site A.S.A.P. Thanks for your understanding :) Enjoy your stay!

17 January 2006
'Tour List', 'My Gear' and 'Site History' sections added. Done a little site styling (horizontal lines etc.).

13 January 2006
I've added the Media section, updated the Accomodations section and 'cleaned' the source code of the site.

09 January 2006
I've re-rendered the videoclips using the Windows Media Video (.wmv) format instead of using the RealMedia codec (RealMedia is a bit too 'commercial' if you aks me ;). Links section added!

21 September 2005
I've added a new search function powered by Master.com! You can register for free and Master.com will index your website. With a simple URL you can get access to a search box. Click at the 'Search This Site' link next to the Austria Hiking Tours logo! Hope it works properly (please let me know what you think of it!). You can also download software so you can index your site by yourself. For more info: www.master.com.

We're back home again bringing back a lot of great memories! We had a wonderful holiday in Kartitsch (Austria), nearby Sillian (Osttirol region). Again, we made great tours and in between we did a lot of cultural and historical sightseeing! These next months this website will be updated frequently with new photographs, tour descriptions and of course a brand new travelreport. So keep an eye on this site ;) Enjoy your stay!

August 2005
We planned our holiday: this year we'll go to the Italian / Austrian border: Kartitsch (Austria), nearby Sillian (Osttirol region) and only a few kilometres away from Italy! Date ? from 20th of August until the fifth of september :) Site updates: added a 'my gear' section :D

16 June 2005
Finally, 3 brand new Tour Descriptions added: Krimmler Wasserfälle, Wildkogel summit and Untersulzbachfall - Schaubergwerk Hochfeld! Updated the 'start here' section, added a few new links and did a little maintenance. So enjoy your stay at my 'refreshed' site :) .. oh .. by the way .. I would like to know what you think about this site, therefore I would really appreciate it if you would drop a message in my guestbook :) Thanks in advance!

Hello! First of all I want to wish you all a superb 2005! Apparently during the transition from Tiscali to SoHosted I forgot to update the links to the Tour Description PDF files. But I fixed this problem now, the PDF files are downloadable again. Enjoy your stay!

14 December 2004
Hello! First, the big news: this website is now hosted at SoHosted.com. There wasn't much space left at the Tiscali account and I still wanted to extend this website with lots of photographs, so basically I had to move :) Also good news: from today there are changes in the 'Travelreports' section. I've moved this item to the 'main' menubar and I've extended this -and other- sections with (new & more) photographs and text. I hope you like this and find it an improvement to the site!! I've also deleted the 'search this site' function: it still wasn't completed and it would take too much time to finish. I believe the menubar and the item 'site map' is enough to quickly find anything on this site. Enjoy your stay!

26 August 2004
We are back home and we had a superb holiday in Neukirchen! We've made some nice new tours and took a lot of pictures. Now I've been updating my site with a lot of new items (travel reports and Salzburgerland info added etc), check out the site map for a quick update (all new items are marked with '[NEW!]'). Enjoy your stay at my updated website!

22 July 2004
From this saturday my girlfriend and I will be on our holiday in Austria for 2 weeks !! So we will be out of town from 24/07 till 07/08. When I get back I'll update this website with my new experiences in the Hohe Tauern region (Salzburgerland) and some new interesting stuff from Vorarlberg which a friend found for me. Enjoy your stay at my site.

23 June 2004
Here's the summer update of this website, with upcoming new tour descriptions and some changes in the layout. Now you can also download the tour description in PDF format in the English language! This has 2 consequences: 1) you won't have to copy/paste from the site itself anymore, 2) not the whole tour description will be readable directly from the website anymore, just the pictures, the 'infoheader' and a short description from now on. You'll see for yourself, it's pretty self explanatory ... If you still want to enter my survey (10 questions about this website) click here. Thanks in advance for your help and enjoy your stay.
